Sweet Relief!
Earlier this week I resorted to my last-ditch effort to give Bryce some relief from his Eczema.
I used the Aveeno with 1% Cortisone in it.
Not my first choice, but I had bought it... just in case.
I conceded that "just in case" had arrived when he was scrubbing his legs together so hard that he'd break out of his snapped footie pajamas. If he'd get his legs out of those, he'd scratch them until bleeding.
We are both taking fish oil, and he's taking probiotics. His BM's are more regular, but the Eczema has been worse since taking these things. I emailed Dr. Monk and asked if it's normal for Bryce's condition to get worse before it gets better and he said no.
He also said that cortisol is the natural anti-inflammatory steroid which controls inflammation.
If the adrenals are under functioning the body will not produce enough cortisol, and will require some.
It was a relief to hear this, and a confirmation of my mommy instincts. I had already tried one over the counter with no noticeable effects, but I gave Bryce's legs a rub-down with the Aveeno.
One application and a few hours later his inflamed skin was relieved to the point that he wasn't trying to tear into it with his fingernails!
I've only applied it once or twice more in really bad areas, but have since gone back to the Bag Balm which has been keeping his skin almost baby-soft once again.
I just wanted to give him some relief while waiting for the other things to take effect, and I think we accomplished that this week.
Thanks LORD!
Your photo got me. So sorry about the troubles you are having. But, just had to tell you how cute that photo is made me laugh when I saw it in the dashboard and had to come visit.
ReplyDeleteHooray! Oh, I'm so glad he's doing better! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessa - sometimes the non-smile ones are just as captivating!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you visit:-)
Claire, sweet relief indeed. I hope that the rest of the tube sits for years and years in my medicine cabinet, but I sure was thankful for it this week!
I'm so glad the littlest bug is doing better! I hope he continues to improve.
ReplyDeleteYeah! So glad Bryce is getting some relief. That is amazing to hear! Love ya.

ReplyDeletePhew!
ReplyDeleteI ended up doing the same thing with Christopher. When it got really bad, hit it with the cortisone, then hit it will all the natural stuff once it died down again.
