Cross-Eyed

On the road - really and truly.
Sitting in the first back seat between Carolina and Zachary, listening to a Hercule Poirot mystery (The Big Four).

Thankfully the road is pretty straight.
I am wondering how long it will take for my stomach to rebel at my eyes viewing a jiggling computer screen rather than watching the scenery as any sane pair of eyes would be doing while driving!

It's just that it's getting hard to get to the computer before Emma!
I've dubbed her the "Blogger Hogger" and I think it fits;-)
If you are wanting more pictures of our adventures you must keep your eyes on her blog, as we rarely post the same pictures.
That's another matter... sharing the camera.
Camera doesn't rhyme with hogger but if it did........
;-P

Here's a highlight in my day:
Clayton pointed out an "ordinary" today, and with some exercising of my little grey cells, I finally deduced him to mean "cemetery".
















Context makes a big difference :-)

Woo Hoo!

What next are we to do?

Well... Today we spend in Niagara Falls again. Our cousins (from two posts ago) were hit By Ike the day after we left their place. Apparently the much of Columbus Ohio is without power and unlikely to have it back real soon.
The gas stations were shut down and church yesterday was canceled.
Cousins called from the road sating they were headed this way, so it looks like we'll have a party today!
YIPEE!

Assuming that our path back to Colorado is unaffected by Ike, we'll be heading that way next.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. The Lord surely has blessed us with divine timing in our travels!

Niagara Falls New York...

Beautiful!






























Not exactly what I imagined; a beautifully kept green park with lots of trees and right in the city.
We were impressed that we could go right to the edge of the falls and look over the edge!
I offered to throw Emma in to see if Superman would appear, but on second consideration I didn't see a phone booth anywhere on the U.S. side.
Decided not to after all.










































The children were awesome and walked a ton. It's feast or famine in regards to our mode of transportation, I guess.
We were blessed with a beautiful sunshiny day (while muggy), and we apparently just missed hurricane Ike putting Louisville out of electricity for acouple weeks!!
Thanks Lord! What a day to remember:-)

Snippets

This... you may wonder, is Clayton with a bullet casing stuck (yes, stuck) on his tooth.I thought the tooth may come out with the casing - but not this time.
Thankfully.

Susanna told me this evening that "you know if it's a Motel, if there's someone mowing out front"
and... "it's a Hotel, there's someone hoeing out front."

I did not know this before. I think she got her information from Clay, but who am I to argue?
It all sounds perfectly reasonable!

Guess who we saw? You probably already knew, since you have connections! ;-)
I thought you might like to see how this person is using their apartment balcony - things grow pretty well in this muggy climate!
I tried to get Emma and AJ to say "balmy" instead of "muggy"as I think that a much nicer term, but I have since decided that muggy is the best description, and there's nothing nice about it. (besides it's effects on plants maybe.)

Emma, was thrilled to hear that we were going to head for New York!
"I just wish we could see the Eiffel Tower" says she.
Uh... Em, we aren't planning on traveling THAT far! I think she meant the statue of liberty! :-)

We did, however have dinner tonight on the shore of Lake Erie in Erie Pennsylvania!






























































So.
We are now in New York. We decided two days ago, "hey! why not go see Niagara Falls?!"
And so, Tomorrow! Lord willing.
There should be some things to show tomorrow assuming E and I can agree to share the laptop!

Love from the East!

On Pleasure Bent Again!

This is the first time I've ventured further East than Colorado, and it's true there's a lot of empty land after you leave Colorado coming this direction, but at least it's not desert!










































First stop was near Springfield Missouri to visit new friends of ours who are homestead-ing and planting a church.
We had a wonderful time

















seeing their new place, getting to view the Ozark countryside, and spending a rich time of fellowship with other like-minded believers!



























































































One thing we really noticed is that things grow well out here...
...which includes bugs:










































































Zachary loves the "lush and green", and all the children had the time of their lives with friends, baby goats, grasshoppers, frogs, crickets, chicks, and kittens.














































The Mountain Church is a family integrated church thriving in Colorado, and now quickly flourishing in Missouri. There are about about nine families already but as you can see, it appears to be a larger number due to the quantity of children!




































































It was a sight to behold watching the children of nine families fill a gymnasium! It was busy there!!
My children had a ball:-)























































Before we left Missouri we drove through some Amish neighborhoods and really enjoyed seeing a glimpse into the their way of life.














































Make sure you check Emma's blog in a few days to see what she posts about this - it really interested her so she's doing a little research to find out more about these interesting people.

We made it to Kentucky two days ago - another 1400 miles from our stay in Mo.
AJ has work here, and the rest of us are are attempting to navigate the city and find what's of significance to see (besides the Kentucky Derby and baseball). We're trying to do a little Internet research, but if you know of something amazing near Louisville drop me a line!
