We're trying something new this year. I'm making a concerted (and calculated) effort to do some craft
and art projects with my kiddos. They have free reign of crayons, pens, and pencils, but I want to have
a reason to sit down with them. Hence Craft Friday.
Here's the cool thing: I'm going to do 2 Craft Friday's a month (every other week)
and include my niece and nephew in the
will be conducting a science lesson and experiment the other 2 Fridays!! Yay!
Now you can all tell me how lucky I am to have a sis that lives next door
and wants to share her life with me. Hannah makes scientific things sound so interesting too!
My children are ecstatic and so am I because science isn't really my thing.
But art?
Be still my beating heart.
With this schedule Fridays will be a school day the children will really look forward to.
It will be lighthearted and fun and different from the rest of the week. And fun.
Did I mention that already?
So this was the test-drive day for Craft Friday and yes, I came up with these silly sheep all on my own.
Aren't they adorable?! The kids did a great job! And so did I. I didn't even flinch when glue was applied
liberally by small hands. Well. I didn't flinch very much. It was an imperceptible flinch really. I hope.
Anyhow, all I did was pre-cut the sheep shape, ears and also cut Popsicle sticks in half for legs.
Googly eyes, a package of cotton balls, yarn to hang it by and regular ol' craft glue. Viola!
With so many little hands (18 I think) it was helpful to have all the parts ready to assemble.
I wrote out a verse - a precious truth from John 10, which Susanna decorated for us. Hanging that up with
our wooly flock completed some home decor I will enjoy every time I pass by!
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me."
~John 10:27

Nicole, It's a pleasure to meet you:-)
We visited Maine last fall and just LOVED it! Absolutely beautiful in your part of the country. We enjoyed Acadia park, and an ice cream store in Wescaggit, and lobster in Bangor...
Mmm. Good memories!
Hello Analene! I really do think the sheep are super cute. I bet all the kids really enjoyed themselves. I have been enjoying ALL your blogs. I've read them backwards..until December 2010. Haha! You are a very talented writer and photographer. Just want you to know your family has a special place in our hearts. I cannot get enough of your children. Please tell all of them that we love them and I miss them dearly. Much LOVE to the Loves! XO's
Dear Momma-to-Amelia,
Your visit was a gift to us. We still can't believe you came all this way! YOU are wonderful. It was a privilege to get to know you a bit. My children adore Travis, and it appears he now has some stiff competition because you just blessed their socks off with every brave venture!
Wow.
That baby girl of yours is a sparkle and a half. I really enjoyed her; enjoyed watching her parents love on her:-) She is a fortunate little lady.
I hope you'll come again when you've recovered from this summer's expedition.
Hugs to you,
~me
Analene,I love your Friday craft idea! I would love for you to post some of the crafts that you do to get our creative juices flowing! In fact, we may just do them the week after you:)! Thanks for the ideas! Love, Kimberly
I LOVE crafts too. I am not so prepared very often, but love it when I am. Along the lines of Bible the verses and fun, I just got some CDs which I love very much called Seeds Family Worship. They are all scriptures and are reasonable music (not ridiculously cheesy as some children's music can be). So check it out on you-tube or something. It could be a great compliment to a craft with the same verse and the kids would have the scripture in their hearts through so many avenues (visual, hands on creating something, and a song) that it would totally STICK. ya know? As you can tell I'm a bit excited about this. ;)
I DO love this project! (rummaging around to see if we have any cotton balls!)
Hannah
You rock Analene! Looks like they turned our wonderful!
