Through the Red Mug

The Red Mug.

It likes coffee with hot chocolate and half n' half best.

But is learning to appreciate tea.

The Red Mug prefers Peach or Peppermint with Agave stirred in.

But not especially herbal teas, and NEVER Licorice!

The Red mug likes mornings

And afternoon escapes.

Evenings are nice too, but only with Rocky Road ice cream and milk poured over.

The Red Mug is cheerful all the time.

Content to sit on the shelf when I don't have the heart,

and happy in the hand when I do.

I could probably learn a thing or two from The Red Mug.

Perhaps she'll whisper a few lessons

while I sip

steaming sweet chocolate

and peek at my little son

through

her

handle.

I hope so.

Love it!! Too cute~

I just tried Ginger Peach tea. Yummmmmeeee!

I'm the tea drinker. The other 9 people in this house drink coffee. Down to the littlest ones. Their Papa started that years ago and now it's a rite of passage :-)

They tell me they'll keep me anyway :-)

I just wanted to "introduce" myself and thank you for your encouraging blog! My name is Melissa Dixon, and my husband and I met your parents at Calvary Chapel Chico when we started going there 8 years ago (before that we lived in Mississippi, where I'm from). We only got to know your younger brothers and sisters, and you have such a sweet family! We miss seeing them weekly since they changed churches (although we had a nice visit with your dad in Costco recently!). Anyway, we live in Magalia, and after seeing some of your older posts' references to midwives, I think we may have some in common--we've had 3 homebirths since we've been out here, and first had Sarah Salisbury and Paula Emigh, then Sarah "retired" and it was just Paula. We have 7 children from 18 years old to 19 mo., and I just wanted to let you know much I've enjoyed reading your blog!

Cinnamon, I think tea is a much better option and certainly better for baby-growing, but I finally warmed up to coffee (only with LOTS of chocolate and cream and stuff) while digging in my heels. But when my husband started letting me drive more when we traveled from state to state (driving 9 hour stretches and more)I fell in love with Starbucks on the road - those Java Chip Frapucinos especially!
Mmmm...
Aj can work in the car if I drive and I have loved driving for a change, but what was really a discovery I hadn't wanted to make,
was just how much the caffeine jolted me into a thinking person!
It had been SO LONG since I had a complete train of thought! HA!

Now... I am not proud of being a coffee drinker, but I am a more humble person, understanding the coffee crowd just a bit ;-)
Perhaps it's just a season.
I'm glad they decided to keep you. It seems like a good idea!
Love and hugs!!!

Melissa,
Thank you thank you for letting me know you visit!
It is a delight to meet you:-)
Sarah was my doula almost 10 years ago with my first and before she officially midwifed, and then she and Paula delivered my sweet Carolina who was my first home birth! What a privilege to have babies at home! I'm hooked.
If you ever feel like visiting Far North Idaho, you could get to know the "older" portion of our family and Charlie and I will round out your picture :-D
Thanks again for the heart-lift by saying hello.
Blessings to you!

I have been into Apple spice lately. I think becuase of the holidays.
First I want to say CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am soooo happy for you. A new blessing. I am looking forward to following. One of my resolutions for the new year is to be better at leaving comments! I always think of things I want to tell you, but just don't take the time. That will change.
Hey, I heard one of the mega million lottery winners was in Idaho and I thought of you! I didn't even have a ticket...usually do not.
Well take care of yourself my friend.

As always it is so refreshing to read your lovely thoughts. I was just telling my man that you're expecting again. Amazing and overwhelming in my mind. But you're the perfect one for the lifestyle and choices that you and your family embody. Love you!

ANd, yes, after the advent of baby #3 I too am a coffee drinker. But my mug has Wonder Woman on it.

Homebirths are a privilege, indeed! Our first was born in the hospital, which unfortunately was an experience we never wanted to repeat. God, in His incredible grace and mercy, has allowed us to have 6 VBAC's at home, and I am SO thankful!

Some close friends of ours moved to Coeur D'Alene, Idaho last year, so you never know when we may be in your neck of the woods :).
