It Doesn't Matter...

It doesn't matter that he is number six, or that I am an "old pro".

I still:

  • Check to see if he is breathing throughout the night.
  • Can't seem to change a little boy diaper fast enough. ;-)
  • Forget what side I last nursed on.
  • Marvel at his perfection

I am surprised to find that:

  • I actually like the smell of baby spit-up (?!)
  • I don't mind being woke up fifty-seven times in the night.
  • I'm having a hard time sharing him with anyone!
  • I enjoy this baby even more than the last one...
Which I enjoyed more than the one before that...
And the one before that...
And the one before...
Which brings me to the first one with whom I thought
I could not possibly enjoy more!

So it would seem there are still surprises!

You are amazing Analene. Oh and my guess is 8lbs 10-12oz....but will it really matter or be accurate by the time Bryce is weighed?

It depends on how desperate I am to be right! HA! ;-D
I could always take him to the produce section of a grocery store to weigh him...

Rebekah, I do not mind being woke up by an infant.
Being woke up that many times in the night by older children for piddly things like "my water cup is empty" and my thought is "you're big enough to sleep without two cups of water or fill it yourself"..

That is tiresome.

My experience is that the season of children under age five demands a certain amount of nightly wakings, no matter HOW much training I enforce (much to my chagrin).
I look forward to the season where I sleep all night, but if that means all my children are over the age of five... I shall miss that:-)
Cherish this time. It really IS short!

Its so fun to hear that! B and I marvel at Little E every day and SWEAR he is the very cutest baby we've EVER had! But I know we said that with R, and S, and before him, E! I see a pattern here...

I agree. Just when you thing your child cannot get any cuter..........they do!!! And it is true that I will gladly get up with a baby with a joyful heart (because I get to hold them without distraction and interruption) but have to try to not be grumpy for a child that wants water or needs to go potty. Babies are a wonder.

Ha ha about the spit-up one! Two weeks ago I was out at the Smith's and Charlie, Hannah and the kids were there. Micah had spit-up on Hannah, and when she handed him to me he smelled like baby spit-up, baby drool, and that unmistakable baby smell. I thought "Oh how I've missed this smell!" Later when I took my sweater off, I said "My sweater smells like Micah!" My brother Jake was like "You are WEIRD."

Congrats, Congrats! I love seeing all of your sweet pictures of little Bryce. What a cutie!
...okay, seriously...you like the smell of spitup? I must be from a different planet. I detest that smell and almost throw up myself when I get a whiff of it. I always thought my weak stomach would get better once I had kids. No such luck. :) I agree with you on the sharing part though - it's so hard to let anyone else have them even for a moment. They are SO precious. Hope to meet little Bryce soon.
Loves to you today sweet Momma Bug!

O.K. Kim, in all honesty, this was a bit of a surprise to me too. I think when I said spit-up, I was referring to those first few not-so-potent-brand-new-baby spits.
I wasn't really thinking about the big-chunky-curdled-been-in-your-tummy-three-hours spits.
No. Those aren't for me either!
Can't blame you a bit.
Who knows? Maybe it's just the hormones;-)
