Sweet Words...

We had a lovely weekend again.
This evening we put Daddy bug on the plane to Kentucky for half a week. I can hardly stand all the distance separating us, and while I have a mile-long list of things I want to accomplish while he's gone, I doubt it will make me miss him less!

Because I am a hormonal, sleep-deprived momma, I find myself reflecting on my blessed life with some amount of melancholy.
I can't help but think about all the priceless memories we've made - AJ and me, and our little ones. All the fun times spent together.
I am so thankful for my life - the one that my Lord has seen fit to bless me with so undeservedly.

Surely these must be "the good ol' days" that are now in progress. If only I could capture them and hold on a little longer!

An Ode to a dear Woman...

There was an old lady back home whom I often saw at the grocery store when I shopped with the children.
She would go out of her way to come up to me, and as she put her hand on my arm she would lean close, looking me in the eye and say "This is you finest piece of work mom! This is your finest piece of work!"

Do you have any idea what kind of encouragement that lady was offering a tired-out grocery-shopping momma?!
And you know what? It wasn't just me.
Over the course of the many times I saw her, she was always going out of her way to offer those same words to every young momma with a cart full of more than groceries:-)

I don't know if those other ladies appreciated her, but to me, she sang music!
Oh that I should remember her sage words - so simple, and so very profound.

If ever I am asked, I should say without hesitation that this little family of mine is indeed, my finest piece of work!
Or rather...
Lord, YOU are doing a fine piece of work - Thank You for choosing me.

Some of that fine piece of work!

I'm choked up just visualizing the dear old lady in the store! But then, I too am a hormonal mama today, although I had a good night's rest;)

I know the woman you're talking about, she was in my store too. I think she is all over- she must be an angel! I hope I remember to be that angel to a young mother one day when I am wrinkled and like going to the store more for the people than for the food.

Great post.

Blessings,
Suzanne
